Privacy Policy
This site is a personal portfolio and set of technical reference guides published by Mahmoud Khalifa ("I", "me"). This policy explains what data is collected when you visit, why, and what choices you have. It's written in plain terms — no legal filler, just what actually happens on this site.
What I collect, and why
Pages you read. These are static HTML pages. Reading them doesn't submit any form, doesn't require an account, and doesn't set a tracking cookie on its own.
The AI-twin chat widget (m-khalifa.com only). If you use the chat box on the homepage, your message is sent to a server I control (a Cloudflare Worker), which forwards it to Anthropic's Claude API to generate a response. Specifically:
- Your message text is sent to Anthropic for processing. Anthropic's own privacy terms govern how they handle that request; see Anthropic's privacy policy.
- Your IP address is used server-side, briefly, to apply a daily rate limit (a simple cap on how many questions one visitor can ask per day) — it is not logged permanently or linked to any profile.
- Common questions and their answers may be cached for up to 7 days to serve repeat questions faster and avoid unnecessary API calls. This cache is keyed by the question text, not by who asked it.
- No chat conversation is tied to your name, email, or any other identifying detail — the widget doesn't ask for or collect any of those.
Cookies and advertising
This site does not currently run any advertising or analytics. If that changes — for example, if Google AdSense is enabled for content-supported pages — this section will be updated in advance, and the following will apply:
Google, as a third-party vendor, may use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this or other websites. Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads based on your visit to this site and/or other sites on the Internet. You may opt out of personalized advertising by visiting Google's Ads Settings. Third-party vendors, including Google, may also use cookies to serve ads based on a user's prior visits — more detail is available at How Google uses information from sites that use its services.
What I don't do
- I don't sell, rent, or trade any visitor data.
- I don't require accounts, logins, or email addresses to read this site.
- I don't run tracking pixels, session-replay tools, or fingerprinting scripts.
Third parties involved
- Anthropic (Claude API) — processes AI-twin chat messages to generate responses. See their privacy policy.
- Cloudflare — hosts the relay worker that connects this site to Anthropic's API, and provides standard infrastructure-level request handling (the same kind any CDN/host performs). See Cloudflare's privacy policy.
- Google AdSense (if/when enabled) — may serve ads and use cookies as described above. See Google's privacy policy.
Children's privacy
This site is intended for a professional/technical audience and is not directed at children under 13. I don't knowingly collect data from children.
Your choices
You can use this site without ever touching the AI-twin chat widget — every other page is static content with no data collection. If you've used the chat widget and want to ask about what was processed, use the contact details below.
Changes to this policy
If what this site collects or how it's used changes materially, this page will be updated and the "last updated" date at the top will change. There's no mailing list or notification system — check back if you're concerned.
